In 2007 the designers and the Women's Board took on the stately and charming home at 363 Westland Avenue in Bexley, Ohio -- an American classic in the Colonial revival style.

Built of stone with clapboard wood siding, the home was constructed in 1926 and offers more than 6,000 square feet of gracious rooms imbued with beauty and a sense of history. The home's magnificent pastoral setting has provided a nurturing environment for generations of prominent Bexley families.

The house was built in 1926 for Preston Davis, whose wife wanted to live near the home of her best friend at 379 Westland Avenue. The Davises bought the property and built a magnificent home to house Mrs. Davis's collection of American antiques.

Mr. Davis was publisher of Current Events, the first newspaper for middle and high school students, and had just moved his publishing company to Columbus from Agawam, Massachusetts. within two years, Mr. Davis would become the sponsoring founder of Current Events more famous sister publication My Weekly Reader. The Davis family lived in the house until 1952, and Preston Davis's children remained in Columbus. His company, now called Weekly Reader Publishing, persists to this day, and has educated 75 years of schoolchildren in current events.

Another prominent couple to reside in the home was Donald M. Casto, II and his wife Betty, who owned the house from 1956 to 1967. Three generations of the Castos have been involved in commercial and residential real estate, including the Castos' son, Don M. Casto, III.

Additional owners included the Shawans, the Lucases, Sharon Cohodes, the Stevenses, and currently, Mr. and Mrs. James Lowder.
