Hate crimes are a matter for the Thought Police. WOOPS! There ain't no such thing as Thought Police. All who read this had better hope that there never will be such a thing. Just sayin'.

Real Bill: You've made my day. Since public schools have made feelings the central part of learning, logic and self-discipline have become casualties. BO is the poster child for hate. His arrogance exudes hatred for Americans. As Phyllis pointed out, to dislike others' actions and even their personalities is possible without slipping into hatred. The true measure of the entire person is how his actions match his words, or in BO's case campaign rhetoric and inability to give straight answers.

Ariz. law enforcement officers herald the legislation because immigration laws will now mean something, like action. Some residents put their fridges on the porch to keep illegals out of their homes. What do you expect working TAX PAYERS to think about gov't not paying attention? Ill will and hate only increase when justice is denied. Law and order should serve victims. Criminals need to be punished. The will to be rehabilitated comes from within. Illegals need to rehab south of the US border.

Coleman how did I prove your point? You said hate will increase with a sort of glee like the Rodney King riots. So far I haven't seen anything here in America that resembles the riots of Thailand, Iran today or Vietnam anti-war of the 60's. The only violence I've seen has come from the left & unions who even abused their own supporters at town hall meetings.I suppose being a prison guard seeing hate and violence daily has made you obdurate.

Lou, disagreeing with the Obama agenda doesn't necessarily make for drivel. This is exactly why people suspect the left wing media of being elitists.

I agree with you, Lou. This appears to be a hate Obama site. Actually, by reading some of the comments, I would say "Oh, yeah, hate PERIOD has increased". However, in truth, when the economic state of the country is uncertain, certain groups resort to hate against another group to alleviate the fear they feel themselves. It doesn't excuse the reaction, just makes me sad.

The question here is about hate crimes. As usual so many on here write like they do every other question on here. It's Obama's fault or it's the liberal media's fault. Get over that people and answer the question with an intelligent thought once in a while. This is not the Hate Obama site. It really gets tiresome reading the same drivel about every question.

For a few moments last night an item re the Ariz. illegals law w/ teeth appeared as a "Trending" piece. The reports were taken from Detroit & Hispanic papers both of which require everything but navel depth to comment. Quotas were cited as the reason for BO to push for repeal. However, this morning's French move to ban Muslim veils is given full nat'l web view. Perhaps the French are not so PC. BO is inciting class warfare with his "go to the back of the line" ads. Tasteless if nothing else.

I'm slightly confused...why is there no choice for "about the same"? I think that may be the answer, it's just sensationalized and we hear more about it. Not all, but much misrepresentation for late, breaking headlines. Very sad. No one benefits but the bottom dollar for the news organization or the agenda they promote.

As Obama continues to pursue programs and policies that continue to "spread the wealth" we are going to see continued problems. While the working people become fewer and hate crimes the workers come from other countries and taxes increase the blame will be aimed at those folks. The hate crimes will increase.

I was taught the word "hate" had one of the strongest/most negative meanings in the English language! As a young child's I was taught not to use this word. Instead, I was to say: I "dislike" this or that person so much! I "dislike" being put in this or that situation! It helped teach me that I don't have to like certain people, or who they may associate with, their actions, their speech, the way they look, or what they believe in! I don't hate them, I just don't like them - It's just how it is!

Yesterday the Arizona legislature was in the process of passing measures to put teeth into illegal alien incursion, activities and to punishing those who aid and abet them. The media has been silent. No doubt Ariz. is getting ahead of the illegal amnesty push by BO. Self-preservation by taxpaying US citizens is not hate. The devaluation of language/word definitions is perpetuated by the media. Newspeak? or just plain obfuscation? BTW please refer to me now as TG aka Rachael the gripe.

I think there are now assaults that were not previously listed as hate crimes and there is more publicity so it appears there has been an increase.

No, just advertised more and many more 'types' have been added to the list. This will always be around some have not the intelligence to handle bias or speak intelligently of the Y. Class warfare is being fomented by this admin by taking mine and giving to others w/out my choice on the who or where that 'income' or good works should go. I believe today a descriptive name is simply a habit of response that is like a cuss word. I hate broccoli am I bad, I don't know. Hate is a powerful word.

If the media would quit fueling the situations with their slanders, unbalanced political idiosyncrasy.Coleman there you go again with hate keep fanning the flames of hate and then blame others.Next up name calling because you don't like their views just like your masters in Washington demonize a group telling lies,half-truths,get the people to hate something or someone.Sound familiar to anyone...by the way i tried to post a comment on the last Poll and RR censored my post. How about I cancel RR?

I don't know if they have increased. The only thing certain is the media's increased coverage because the media see these as assaults against the left.

Unsure, because their has been hate crimes for many years and many were never reported. Do to that fact it is hard to say whether they increased or decreased. Also some crimes have been reported as hate, but they were just crimes done by the someone just to do it.

It seems like they have increased, but I believe that they are just being reported more and more crimes have been categorized as hate crimes, which is a good thing.

Civil unrest in the US will continue. Economic conditions encourage class wars. The present administration is only exacerbating class and ethnic differences by taxing those who earn more by honest toil and innovation and spreading that income to others who do not work or contribute to the tax base. These are problems of failed governmental policy, misunderstanding of human nature and a justice system that favors criminals over victims.
